DO-IT Scholars are Washington State high school students with disabilities planning to continue their education after they graduate. Scholars prepare for their transition to college—which includes exploring careers, independence, self-advocacy, and leadership. Is open to high school sophomores or juniors.

For HS seniors. No citizenship required. History of leadership &/or allyship in issues that affect the LGBT/Queer community. Must plan to continue this leadership/allyship in the future. No specific GPA but seeking candidates w/ high academic performance. 

The Hamilton Award recognizes outstanding HS juniors for their academic, personal, and service achievements and selects students for the Hamilton Leaders Academy – a three-year, no-student-cost program that helps students get into college, transition to college, succeed while in college, and transition to the post-college world.

($8,000) - The GSBA Scholarship Fund awards educational scholarships to Washington State LGBTQ and allied students who exhibit leadership potential, demonstrate strong academic abilities, and are actively involved in school and community organizations.

2021 Essay Contest Topic

What characteristics lead to a successful effort by diplomats and peacebuilders to mediate or prevent violent conflict? The United States Foreign Service—often referred to as America’s first line of defense—works to prevent conflict from breaking out abroad and threats from coming to our shores. Peacebuilders work on the ground to create the conditions for peace and resolve conflicts where they are most needed.

Successful essays will identify, in no more than 1,250 words, a situation where diplomats worked on a peacebuilding initiative with partners from the country/region in question, nongovernmental organizations, and other parts of the U.S. government, and then go on to analyze what characteristics and approaches made the enterprise a success.

The National Scholarship Award will cover your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $16,500 for an associate degree and $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree, at one of our Partner Colleges. Please note, some Scholars may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $4,000 (or $1,000 per year) for books, supplies, and transportation. 

The award is renewable each year – you simply have to meet the continuing eligibility criteria.

Note: We do not offer our Scholarship to DREAMers in California or Washington state because of the availability of generous state and institutional aid.

We created our Opportunity Scholarship for DREAMers who live in states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities.  We call these states locked-out states.

TheDream.US has adopted new immigration eligibility criteria! You are now eligible to apply if you came to the country before November 1, 2015.

Open to incoming and current college students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay on a topic related to distracted driving.

General Education Grantees receive up to $5,000 over a one-year period to pay for tuition, mandatory fees, and required books and supplies at the approved Washington college or university of their choice. For females 18 and older.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, currently enrolled as a student in high school or college in the US, and be a legal resident of the United States.

Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program's three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community.
